The Meet Cute
Kate and Gavin met at an NCAA basketball game at UNC Chapel Hill while Gavin was stationed at Fort Bragg and Kate was attending law school. They grabbed tacos after the game and things blossomed from there. Kate was finishing up her last year of law school at the time before she moved to New York for two years. They continued to date long distance for four years as Gavin moved to Nashville and Kate moved from New York to Chicago. Eventually, Kate took a job at a law firm in Tennessee and moved to Nashville, where Gavin was still living. Gavin knew it was time to propose once their work and living situations finally aligned and they saw how much they loved living together.
Blissful Chaos
Kate appreciates that Gavin is a go-getter who moves at a quick pace, which brings out that side of her. He keeps life fun and entertaining - even taking Kate to Alaska for two weeks of adventure. Gavin loves that Kate is up for anything. She’s a great sport through all the changes that come their way. Their dynamic life is never boring and as Gavin lovingly labels it - blissful chaos.
With a Little Help from My Friends
Gavin first decided to work with Wove after a recommendation from a friend. He wanted to keep the proposal a surprise because, as he puts it, “There are not enough surprises in life.” He immediately realized that his Wove designer was able to accurately sketch out the ideas he had in his head. He got suggestions for Kate’s ring design from her sister and her best friend. They decided on a round cut solitaire with a platinum band since they knew she wanted a timeless and classic design. Once the design was approved by Gavin (and Kate’s girlfriends) the sketch was turned into a rendering. Again, he showed the realistic design to a few key people in Kate’s life to get more feedback.

“When the time came to have the talk, Gavin pulled out the replica ring to ask her parent’s permission for their daughter’s hand.”
Using The Replica Ring To Ask For Her Hand In Marriage
Gavin wanted to get the replica ring created in a rush so that it would be ready for him to take it on his trip to Florida. This is because he wanted to use his one-month replica try-on window to show the ring to Kate’s parents in person before he proposed. He used the replica to both let her parents know that he was planning to propose, and also to show them the ring design he wanted to create for her. Wove rushed the replica ring creation so that Gavin could have the ring in time for this monumental trip. When the time came to have the talk, Gavin pulled out the replica ring to ask her parent’s permission for their daughter’s hand. Her parents were ecstatic. Her mom, Susan, even provided valuable insight on the design and suggested some small adjustments based on the replica. Gavin brought Sussan’s feedback back to Wove and they built the design changes into the final ring. Being able to bring Kate’s family and friends in on the ring design process felt very special to Gavin.
Puppy Love
Once the changes were made to the ring and Gavin got the final ring delivered, he was ready for the proposal. To keep her on her toes before the proposal, he made up a story that there was a worldwide diamond shortage due to supply chain issues, which made Kate reconsider that a proposal might be imminent. To Kate’s total surprise, the proposal took place the next day at their local park where they walk their black lab every weekend. They’ve planned their wedding for later this year at a rustic farm outside of Nashville. They’re excited to get married in autumn, with the beautiful backdrop of the changing seasons.
