Mutual Connection
Vid and Kristen met through mutual friends while Kristen was attending grad school in Washington, DC to become a Physician Assistant. They connected over their ties to Phoenix, Arizona where Kristen was born and raised and Vid had gone to college for his undergrad. The couple met for Happy Hour, started talking, and six months later, their friendship turned into something more.
A Beautiful Life
They dated for two and a half years before they knew it was the right time to get engaged. Vid and Kristen both appreciated the honesty and transparency they shared with each other, and it was easy for them to imagine getting married and spending their lives together. Reflecting on his decision to propose, Vid says, “When I’m able to see how healthy and how beautiful our life has been unraveling and unfolding, there was no question.”
Feeling it Out with a Home Try-On Ring
A selling point for the couple in picking out the perfect ring together was Wove’s unique at-home try-on experience with the replica ring. Kristen loved that the try-on ring allowed them to compare it with ones from competitors. Vid and Kristen both agreed that they felt way more connected to the ring that way, and trying it on around the house helped them see what adjustments needed to be made before making their final decision. Kristen reflects on the ring trial process, “I walked around the house with it on my finger every couple of days just to see how I liked the look. It's a beautiful way to just feel it out.”
A Love and a Ring That’s Not Off the Shelf
After doing some ring shopping at traditional stores and actually purchasing a ring, Vid and Kristen got connected with Wove thanks to a referral from a friend. Kristen shared that the engagement ring selection process felt impersonal, and the idea of designing a ring together rather than picking one off of the shelf led them to reach out to Wove. She loved how special the ring design process was and how the Wove Team worked with the couple to incorporate all the different aspects of what they were looking for together into one ring - including an emerald stone on the inside of the band to honor Kristen’s mother, who passed in 2016 before Vid and Kristen met.
A Roof Rack Proposal
The couple’s love of traveling and experiencing new things together is what prompted Vid to plan a special trip to Kenya, on which he was planning to pop the question. While on the last day of the Safari, Vid was looking for the perfect moment to propose and decided it was “now or never.” With the sun setting over the picturesque landscape behind them and Kristen’s heart pounding, Vid got down on one knee during a ride on the roof of a friend’s car where they had been enjoying the view and asked for her hand in marriage. They will be getting married in Sedona, Arizona in May 2023 and could not be more excited.
